METHODOLOGY

Real trades.
Estimated fees.

shares × rate × p × (1 − p)

We collect taker-side fills from the public Data API v2. The estimate includes markets in eight categories with the zero_fees fee type and a zero rate in Gamma API. Legacy free markets without this fee type and markets with active fees are excluded.

We apply standard category rates: 0.04 for Politics, Finance, Mentions and Tech; 0.05 for NBA, Economy, Culture and Weather. This is a scenario estimate: each market’s historical pre-promotion rate has not been independently verified. Overlapping categories use this priority: NBA → Mentions → Weather → Economy → Finance → Tech → Culture → Politics.

Each fill is counted once, with its fee rounded to 0.00001 USDC. We do not deduct rebates or model changes in trading activity if fees were restored. The result is estimated gross fee savings, rather than Polymarket expenditure, revenue or profit.

Coverage and limitations

Checking historical coverage… The fee catalog refreshes every 15 minutes; changes between checks can affect estimates. The current catalog is also applied when recovering a backlog. Historical backfills include eligible markets that have since closed. API history does not guarantee coverage of every onchain fill; the API’s minimum trade size is 0.01 shares.

After a network outage, we retain the time watermark and recover missing pages with a 120-second overlap. The API does not expose a unique fill ID: deduplication uses transaction hash, token, taker, side, price, size and time, preserving the number of identical fills in the response. Trader profiles and addresses are not published.
